Bagala
Window Works has been restoring windows and doors since 1988. Over the years
we have restored windows and doors in many of Maine's
notable historic properties and in plenty of private old homes as well.
Often "Let's rip 'em out and start over" is the only window or door advice you can find. Contractors who don't understand old windows and doors would just as soon take them to the dump, put in new ones and be done with it. They don't have to live with the wrong windows and doors. You do.
At Bagala Window Works, we understand and appreciate old windows and doors and believe that to maintain the historic and aesthetic character of your home it's usually best to preserve them if possible.

Your original wood windows and doors have been gracing your home for decades. There aren't many things these days that last that long. By now they may leak a little, might stick a bit, and are probably difficult to deal with. But with some T.L.C from our knowledgeable craftsmen, your windows and doors can be operating smoothly, efficiently and gracefully for many decades to come. Restored with attention to detail, such as original paint color, refurbished hardware and appropriate period glass, they'll work like new. And they'll always look right because they are the windows and doors that were originally designed for your home.
If a window or door is restorable, we will do just that. If it has gone past that point, we will make an exact reproduction of it in our shop.
In either case, we can add energy efficiency to your windows and doors with appropriate weatherstripping to stop air infiltration, which will also contribute to the comfort of your home. We use only the finest quality weatherstripping in brass, bronze and zinc, manufactured by Accurate Metal Weatherstrip Company. We've seen Accurate weatherstrip still operating in windows and doors after more than 60 years!

With your windows restored, you may want to protect your investment with storm windows. We install historically sensitive storm windows fabricated by Allied Storms, Inc. They are available with numerous options and custom colors so you can chose a storm window that meets your needs without detracting from the historic character of your building.
You may also wish to replace or
add historically appropriate wood storms and/or screens. We make both these
items to your measurements, using the finest quality materials and construction
methods. With our instructions, they can be easily installed in minutes.
Whether you're a home owner, contractor, architect or historic preservation professional, we'd be happy to share our experience through our consultation service. We can help you with everything from feasibility studies and job pricing to advice on restoration methods. We are fully insured, prompt and on budget and have an extensive list of satisfied customers.
You can reach us about any of our services by calling our office at 207-878-6306 or by E-mail.
We'd love to hear about your project!
